Tell us a little bit about your role?

I’m the writer. It was great to finally get into rehearsals after lonely writing. Adam and I have discussed the play together but there’s nothing like hearing the words I’ve written and seeing fab actors perform them.

What drew you to this story?

Box of Tricks commissioned me to write this play as part of Word:Play and at that stage it was only 15 minutes. I knew I wanted to write a play that explored autism and sibling relationships and it just went from there really. I wanted to explore my own experiences through the play and initially that was tough. I had some really honest conversations with Adam that were really helpful and allowed me to find the story I really wanted to tell.

What is your favourite chocolate bar?

It’s actually a Twirl which is funny because Michael really slags it off in the play.

What are you looking forward to most/ least about the tour?

I hope I can be at loads of the venues. As a writer you don’t always get that chance but I’m going to try. It’s important for me to see the audiences’ reactions.

Who is your favourite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle?

It has to be Donatello. He’s the academic isn’t he, I like that. I’d go out with Donatello.
