A heart to heart with… director Hannah Tyrrell-Pinder 17/10/2013

1. If you could have anyone’s heart, whose would it be and why?

I think it would have to be Elizabeth I, because of that great quote: “I may have the body of a weak and feeble woman, but I have the heart and stomach of a king.”

2. What is your role on In Doggerland? How did you get involved?

As the director, my job is to bring Tom’s play to life; making sure that everyone involved serves the text and the story. Tom and I first worked together on the play in 2011 as part of a festival at Theatre503, I absolutely loved the play and had been looking for the right opportunity to fully produce it ever since. I can’t wait to get back into the rehearsal room with it!

3. What does home mean to you?

Home is somewhere I feel relaxed and comfortable and able to be myself, and if there happens to be a nice hot bath and a glass of wine there too, so much the better!

4. Who is your favourite character and why?

It keeps changing every time I read it. Tom’s written four, complex, flawed but ultimately decent people so you really do care about all of them. That said, I think if I had to choose one of them to spend the day with it’d probably be Kelly, I love how impulsive she is during the play, it’d be an eventful day!

5. What was the last photo you took?

I took some photos while we were shooting the video trailer in Heysham, just north of Lancaster – I think this one is my personal favourite.
